In the digitalization era, sitting for a long time in front of a computer is an unavoidable activity. Wrong sitting position and done for a long time, can cause pain or injury. Pain that is generally felt around the waist or lower back or low back pain.

Other activities such as lifting things that are too heavy by relying on the waist or doing sudden activities without warming up in sports, can cause pain in the waist or lower back.

Furthermore, lower back pain can come on suddenly or appear gradually. Sometimes the pain occurs after certain events, such as bending over to pick up something or when moving the body in an upright position.

Pain may radiate down or to the back of the leg. Pain can range from mild to severe. In some cases, pain can make it difficult or impossible to walk, sleep, work, or do other daily activities. Benefits of Massage in Lower Back Pain

Massage does have the potential to minimize pain and accelerate the healing of low back pain.

In a systematic review study published in Cochrane it was said that sufferers of low back pain who are acute, sub-acute, or chronic experience a significant reduction in pain just by massage.

In the same study, experts also mentioned that massage can accelerate healing in the short term.

Massage can relieve chronic low back pain, especially when combined with exercise and stretching. The researchers noted that patients who did all three moved more easily and had less short- and long-term pain.

Direct manipulation (massage): Some "hands-on" treatments can relax tight muscles, reduce pain, and improve posture and alignment. Massage therapy can also help relieve back pain and restore function.

Prevention of Low Back Pain

Activities that can be done to prevent experiencing low back pain include:

  • Give rest to the lower back or waist when sitting for a long time such as: taking a moment to stand, walk and move your body.
  • Be careful when lifting heavy objects.
  • Exercising by training the muscles in the abdomen and back of the waist.
  • Maintain body weight to avoid being overweight.
  • Warm up before doing strenuous exercise.
